Hello NEACTers, This is from my good friend, Charlie Cox, who taught gen-chem at UNH as a post-doc several years ago. Are you going to the BCCE? Can you help him put this symposium together? Thank you, Cary Kilner Chemical Education Research UNH

Hi Cary, Do you know anyone who would be interested in the following symposium? We need someone who has advised high school students on career paths in chemistry, as well as, done outreach to help spark students' interests in chemistry as a major and career. Here is the abstract: The goal of the symposium is to provide an environment to discuss different advisement methods, current research in advisement methods, and new ideas and methods for equipping both advisors and students with the highest quality information possible. The symposium will include discussions on how to advise large quantities of students accurately and effectively, how to advise students on careers from pre-health to pre-professional including graduate school, and finally how to advise students on undergraduate research opportunities and careers. Discussions of the incorporation of social networking systems and balancing the roles of educator, mentor, and advisor. You are welcome to submit something. This is my symposium, and we really need good abstracts and people will to participate. I honestly think that this is a good problem, but we need willing participants. Please forward to anyone who may be interested, or let me know of people who I could forward to in order to get more interest. The deadline is Friday, and I think they are going to cancel if we cannot get enough people involved.
