Hello NEACT list members,
The time frame on this communication is so short [we received it this
week, and the deadline is April 15] that, even though I have posted it
[including application forms] on the NEACT website, it occurs to me that we
should try to get the word out more actively, whence this message to the
list.

eight weeks. The program will start during the week of June 27th (depending
on when school recesses for the summer) and will end during the week of
August 15th. Work with state-of-the-art instruments and collect publishable
data in the fields of biochemistry, synthetic organic chemistry or
environmental chemistry. Receive a summer stipend of $3,000 from the
Dreyfus Foundation. In addition, receive a $500 grant to be used towards
curriculum development at your home school as well as a one-year
subscription to the Journal of Chemical Education.

Mail a completed application form, resume, and a letter of support from a
school administrator (department head, principal, etc.) by Friday, April 15,
2005 (please see attached application form which includes mailing address).

Attention: High School Science Students
Enjoy an action-packed summer of chemistry research, social activities and
college/career information sessions - apply for Project SEED (Summer
Educational Experience for the Economically Disadvantaged). Sponsored by
the American Chemical Society, Project SEED provides research opportunities
for academically talented and economically disadvantaged high school
students. As a SEED student, you are mentored by a professor as well as a
college student working on your research project. You receive a summer
stipend of $2086 for eight weeks of research beginning during the week of
June 27th (depending on when school recesses for the summer). A
transportation stipend is provided as well.

Mail a completed application form, high school transcript and two letters of
recommendation (one from a teach and one from an administrator) by Friday,
April 15, 2005. Please note: Preference is given when family income does
not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for family size. Please
