Steve Stepenuck * * * ** * * * * * * * * * * * Attention: High School Chemistry Teachers The Chemistry Department at Stonehill College invites you to join our ongoing research endeavors this summer. Project SUCCESS (Stonehill Undergraduate Collaboration with Community Educators and Secondary Students) is created for you to conduct research with professors and students for eight weeks. The program will start during the week of June 27th (depending on when school recesses for the summer) and will end during the week of August 15th. Work with state-of-the-art instruments and collect publishable data in the fields of biochemistry, synthetic organic chemistry or environmental chemistry. Receive a summer stipend of $3,000 from the Dreyfus Foundation. In addition, receive a $500 grant to be used towards curriculum development at your home school as well as a one-year subscription to the Journal of Chemical Education. Mail a completed application form, resume, and a letter of support from a school administrator (department head, principal, etc.) by Friday, April 15, 2005 (please see attached application form which includes mailing address). Attention: High School Science Students Enjoy an action-packed summer of chemistry research, social activities and college/career information sessions - apply for Project SEED (Summer Educational Experience for the Economically Disadvantaged). Sponsored by the American Chemical Society, Project SEED provides research opportunities for academically talented and economically disadvantaged high school students. As a SEED student, you are mentored by a professor as well as a college student working on your research project. You receive a summer stipend of $2086 for eight weeks of research beginning during the week of June 27th (depending on when school recesses for the summer). A transportation stipend is provided as well. Mail a completed application form, high school transcript and two letters of recommendation (one from a teach and one from an administrator) by Friday, April 15, 2005. Please note: Preference is given when family income does not exceed 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for family size. Please see attached application form and financial guidelines.
