                        UMASS, Dartmouth
                        Dartmouth, MA

This conference will combine the resources of the textile and chemistry
departments of the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth and give
participants an opportunity to learn more about the latest developments in
this area.  Hands-on workshops and field trips will also be planned.

UMASS Dartmouth is a modern, beautiful campus close to beaches, cities and
great shopping.  Accommodations are fully air-conditioned and organized 4
single bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and full kitchens in each apartment.

The program includes: 
Dr Ken Langley ( UMASS)  'Fiber Identification'
Dr Quinguo Fan ( UMASS - Textiles)  "Colors"
Dr. Emmanuel Ojadi ( UMASS - Chemistry)   "Red Blood and Green Grass - the 
                                Ultimate Colors of Life"
Dr. Richard Stein (UMASS) and Dr Mohan Srinivasarao (Georgia Tech - Fibers)
        "Using interference techniques to produce Color"

Workshops:  
        "Tie Dying and Some Polymer Experiments"
        "Scanning Electron Microscope"
        "Electro-Spinning"
        "Class Demonstrations"
        "Using Online Tools to teach Textile/Polymers and Materials"

Field Trips to local businesses that use fiber technologies

Total charges for the conference will be $315 per person and scholarship
support for teachers will be available.  Charge for commuters is $100 per
person.
