In principle, yes, and there are a couple of space-frame designs in
Jurgen's database. But you need to triangulate the frame properly in
three dimensions, to resist bending and twisting forces, and use quite
lightweight material, to save weight (given that you are replacing one
tube with several tubes). That leads to making a lot of welds or brazes
in thin tube, which often turns out to be impracticable.
