Hi George,
boatbuilders are a traditional lot. The company in the link is actually from 
Poland. But you are right about German boatbuilder none the less. They too, 
often use feet to size their boats. 

I have not seen Matthias bike, and don't know how he did it, but I guess you 
could weld pieces off sheet metall to the pivots tube and stich and glue it 
into the laminate.

Nice site, thanks, Jurgen, though it's odd to see a German boatbuilder
sizing their boats in feet.

Stitch and glue is a good way of making a monocoque, but how did they
feed into the shell the high point loads from the bottom bracket, hinge,
forks and so on? The boatbuilders tend to take a lot of trouble over
that, with thicker plywood, metal fittings designed to spread the load,
and a lot of glue and many screws or bolts to attach them to the wood.
