DirkB,

Trike + cargo ~ 100kg.  The trike itself is weights ~60kg.  With the single
gear, I can barely move 2 lazy kids ~50kg each, so yes definitely would help.

The steering aid is viable solution.  I am still using sticks for training, so
they are readily available for other use. I just need a base tube for single
speed bike.  Another possible design is to permanently extend the tube high
enough to hands level, and accomodate rear mirror, head light, and phone/GPS,
like http://www.youtube.com/user/B100Saa.  Here is an animation of you riding /
walking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TMzQT5G8lI, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lb6jY0VbWj0

got stuck on road laid with stones the size of fists (railway
stones). The solution was to find a stick and put it in the
derailleur tube up front using it for steering aid. That way it was
possible to walk without getting back pain.

the python might tend to flop over the
front weel going downhill. Specialy if
the seat is not very low. This might be
                                an unpleased expirience.
