Yes, safety is a concern. I am hoping that the stoker lying on the bed frame
with protective side rail may be safer than sitting up, but not sure if the B2B
tandem will get much use compared to side2side tandem, which seems much safer /
easier to ride. We will report back after some comparison.

The elbows, the back, and the back of the head are particularly
exposed. I have read that in races some stokers put on full
protective gear (ninja turtle style).
