Hi Rhisiart, Juergen !

I ask because I see that I shall have to have a full-time, head-out full fairing for my python to be a realistic car-substitute, in our weather. And the shaping of the fairing will be helped considerably if the uppermost sweep of my toes on the pedals is kept relatively low. But does that mean an inherently less efficient action? Anyone else have any specialist knowledge about this?

First I hope that you plan your full fairing for the trike version and
not for the bike. If the inclination of the seat is more upright the
efficiency will not suffer much (but yourself might suffer from
recumbent butt).

It's relevant to say that the fairing will be tailored as slim as possible, to fit the the bike python, and the alternate trike back end will have its wheels outside the main faring, with mudguard/farings on each back wheel, similar to the Leitra's front wheel fairings.

Ok - better forget the idea of a fully faired two wheel Python.

Cheers,
Jürgen.

I note what you say about forgetting a full fairing on a single-track python. My lack of experience of riding the python form makes me wonder why that's a bad idea. I know there are plenty of single-track bents with full fairings. But bad for pythons....?
I think a fully fairing shouldn´t be a bigproblem, even on the 2-wheeled python.

I would like to build one too, for aerodynamic and for winter 07/08. I´m planning a shell made of thin camping-mattress PU-foam-material in combination with a simple frame made of PE-tubes. That should be cheap and lightwheigt.

The front- and rear-part fairing will be fixed to the frame. Between them i want leave space for to sit in and. I would like to close the space with a piece of Ripstop-Nylon, which is fixed to the rear shell and can be zipped to the front shell. To prevent flapping and allow the Nylon to shrink and extend while curving, i would like to insert rubber bands in the nylon. Maybe i can get an used motorcycle fairing or windshield. I want to use the acrylic glass for the front window. There are several weblinks to this kind of fairing, but i lost them all, sorry. Who can help ?

Best regards,
Stephan
