with a gnom desktop at home, i mostly work on the shell when working on a
linux machine.

Your project sounds very interesting. I hope we get a chance to chat about
them. You can certainly set up a raspberry pie on your own. Getting speech
running in the console, sorry, no graphics interface at the moment, is
straightforward especially since you know how to do SSH. I thinkinformation
about this is on the website. Someone else can probably shoot you thelinks.

I work on my Raspbbery Pi via ssh fromm y PC or my ubuntu server. For
setting it up, I first connected it to my notebook using a
usb/serial/adapter and Teraterm. Surely it makes fun working together
with my partner, but it would be a great experience setting up a Pi
without sighted assistance.
