Hello folks.
I know this is a Raspberry Pi list but I guess we all have general
interest in all things geeky and in single-board computers in general.
I took delivery of a Beaglebone Black, Rev C board yesterday.
I fired it up today for the first time.
These boards come now with Debian pre-installed in EMCC, flash memory,
not on the micro-SD card like the Pi.
It comes with a USB to mini-USB lead and I thought the documentation I
have found online says it is supposed to be possible to connect to it
over this USB connection. But the lead doesn't seem to have an FTDI
chip in it, at least it did not result in /dev/ttyUSB0 appearing on my
Debian desktop machine.
Some time ago I bought some USB male to dual-concentric DC plug leads
from modmypi, can't remember quite why. When I didn't get any LEDs to
light with the USB to mini-USB lead I used one of the USB to DC leads
and that works fine.
I now have to find blind person readable tables of pinouts online or get
a sighted person to help me identify the connections. When I do I will
make a Beaglebone Black description page for the Web site.
I particularly need to know the I2C connections.
It seems that although the BBB has half as much RAM as the Pi3, there
are a lot more GPIO lines, several UARTs, some ADC ports and more ways
to connect it than you can shake a stick at (silly British expression).
