Cool, but this is actually occurring on my desktop.
I want to install emacspeak on a pi eventually, so please let me know
when the stuttering is fixed.

Emacspeak as it is in Jessie needs for you to use the espeak server.
You need to put:
export DTK_PROGRAM=espeak
In your .bashrc but it will stutter badly.
So probably not usable until I finish the server.
