[raspberry-vi] Re: Linux voices

I think IBM is sort of doing it out of the goodness of their heart, as 
much as any corporation can do something like that. Oralux was a live 
distro for the blind. You booted this live CD and it came up talking 
which was, still is, quite an innovation. But it was somewhat 
supplatnted by Knoppix when Knoppix added screen reader support. And 
it's a lot of owrk to maintan a live distro. About the same time, IBM 
wanted to stop selling their software speech synthesizer. But they 
realized a lot of people depended on it so they said they'd let 
resellers keep selling it. The only catch was the reseller had to buy 
like a thousand licenses at once and then resell them. It was amazingly  
cheap but there was a considerable up front investment. The people 
running the oralux project stepped up and became a reseller.
