That is what I would like to do if I have the ability to SSH into it, but
for now, I can just throw stuff at it,hoping something will work.
So I'm thinking that if I add the needed repository and it is already there,
it won't hurt, and if it breaks something, I can start over.

You may want to compare the apt sources file, I do not have the exact file
name at hand. If you have a ubuntu instance, compare that file with what you
have on sky wave Linux and see if you can figure out what the differences
are.
