Well i connect my brailline and use brltty at the very beginning.
In terminal i use purge command to remove pulseaudio, after that i have
to edit speech dispatcher.conf file to make it run automatically and
after that orca speaks.
Then i install / set up applications i usually use - thunderbird,
pidgin, VLC, Kodi, etc.
Some of them are part of the system, some not.

Hello,
i absolutelly don`t understand why all the blind users work via console on
their raspberry machines.
I have installed Ubuntu Mate 16.04 with Orca and it works great.
Only issue i have noticed is that you can`t use pulseaudio, it doesn`t
work properly, not only with orca but also non blind users reported this.
But when you reove pulseaudio, alsa becomes the defauld sound service so
that you are able to hear what Orca sais.
