Hi Dale.
In terms of max capacity, you should be fine in terms of limits. I've
known people use 64GB cards in the past. Class 10 or greater should be fine.
Make sure its a micro SD card and not a standard SD card.
Finally, formatting, the pi will format the card when you write an
image so you do not need to worry about the format on the card.
