Hi Mike,
I can't tell much about the chip sets in the notetakers.
I know that they could telnet into desktop computers via the serial line.
I am thinking that if the notetakers can't SSH, then maybe I can telnet into
the RPI and control it that way.
So basically, the notetaker becomes a Braille keyboard for the RPI.

Glenn,

Is this a 'prolific' chip-set adaptor (PL2303)? If it is it's pretty
much like the one I have and when I plug it in and boot Raspbian it's
assigned the device '/dev/ttyUSB0'. I use mine to connect to a digital
multimeter I have with a serial interface. Works very well.

Mike
