Ace – thank you for the article, I wonder how someone can bend their club by
hitting their head, seriously, he must have a very hard head. Further was the
shaft measured before he started the event, so that when he hit his head with
his putter, the rules officials would know for sure it was bent? And even
further, was the measurement tool that used to measure his shaft within
calibration, and by whom?. All these questions make you wonder was his shaft
bent or not bent to begin with. Zac Blair is a fun golfer to watch if you
haven’t seen him before.
Fast forward to my situation, I have also had grave doubts about the bending or
non-bending of my shaft in Las Vegas, it seemed to work or at least I got used
to using it during the last six rounds I played, maybe I just got used to it.
I have debated since I got home whether to return it to its original condition
or live with what I have, will let everyone know what I decide when I do, or
better yet show you the next time I see you. Lastly, after reading the first
article, I thought I was disqualified from the remaining rounds I played in Las
Vegas, and then I wondered what that heck that really meant, and was glad to
see our SOGAGG rules committee came to the same conclusion I did that anything
goes in SOGAGG.
Great Saturday to all, and really truly appreciate the article, very very
enlightening.

Note: This was sent along only to show (the former) Doglegs isn’t the only one
who bends his shaft. The disqualification part does not apply since it is
officially impossible to be disqualified for anything you do in SOGAGG (thank
goodness)…
Cheers,

PGA golfer disqualified after hitting himself with

Zac Blair was disqualified after taking out his frustrations on his putter. Sam

A PGA golfer was disqualified during the second round of the Wells Fargo
Championship on Friday for hitting himself in the head with his putter.
It wasn’t the actual hitting of himself that resulted in Zac Blair getting the
boot, however. Believe it or not, Blair’s act of frustration after he missed a
birdie putt on the par-5 fifth hole caused the shaft of his putter to bend
slightly. Since he finished the hole using the club, he was disqualified based
on the following USGA rule:
Golfers have smashed their clubs and broken them in frustration during
tournaments many times, but the difference with Blair is that he used the
putter after it had been bent. He made light of the situation by tweeting a
video of Woody Austin, who infamously bent his putter by slamming himself in
the head with it back in 1997.
Blair later got serious, saying in a statement that he let his emotions get the
best of him.
Typically when a golfer breaks his own club during a round he does so by
smashing it on the ground or snapping it over his knee like

Blair will likely have a nice headache to go along with his DQ.
