Scott Somershoe, TWRA State Ornithologist, is conducting this year a
state-wide breeding survey on wading birds. I am assisting in
coordinating this effort. Coordinators have been obtained for breeding
sites named in the wading birds document of the IBA. There are many
breeding sites that are not known. If you know of a site, contact
Michael Bierly at mlbierly@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx The survey form can be found
on the TWRA web site at http://www.state.tn.us/twra/nongame.html (bottom
of left column for link) or Michael can send it to you. Also, if you
are able to observe a previously known heronry, your observations are
welcomed. If you find a heronry, send you observations even though there
may be a coordinator for it. It is likely that you won't know what is
being covered or if your find is a new one. All observations will be
included in a web document that will be posted on the TOS web site. You
help in making this survey as complete as possible if very much
appreciated.
