The Knoxville Chapter of TOS will be conducting the annual Knox County Spring Bird Count on Saturday, 3 May 2008. Everyone is invited to participate. I've only heard from a few people so far confirming that they are planning to count so if you normally work this count and haven't gotten in touch with me yet, please let me know if you are or are not planning to count. Several good areas are open for coverage. I particularly need a party to cover HOUSE MOUNTAIN park as the normal crew aren't going to be able to work it this year. This is a great spot in eastern Knox County where we often get several warblers, tanagers, vireos and other migrants and nesters. House Mt is the highest point in Knox Co so there is some hiking involved but the trails are well maintained. Let me know if you are interested. The announcement from the KTOS newsletter is included below. Dean Edwards Knoxville, TN Knox County Spring Count Due to a conflict with the TOS state meeting, the Knox County Spring Count will be held on Saturday, 3 May 2008. As usual, parties will be counting birds throughout Knox County on this day. Submit your results to the compiler (Dean Edwards, 1615 Meadow Chase Ln, Knoxville TN 37931; kde@xxxxxxx) as soon as possible after the count.
