The NTOS Christmas Bird Count took place on Saturday, December 14, 2019 on a
cloudy temperate day. 45 member in 9 groups spent 12 hours out and about
covering this historic CBC circle. A total of 71 species were counted which is
a bit below average. Four groups made it out before sunrise for some owling
which added Great Horned and Screech Owl to the count day. Other notable
species were Snow Goose, Green-winged Teal, Ruddy Duck, House Wren, Gray
Catbird, and Tennessee Warbler. There was one count week species noted which
was a flyover group of Sandhill Cranes. Many thanks for all who participated.
