After finding and photographing Chuck's two Scoters, we made a celebratory
stop at Riverside Grille, about 1.7 miles northwest of the scoter site and
immediately saw... another Scoter out on the lake.

This one was another White-winged Scoter, immature male.

Initially checked out the Clinch River at the Solway boat ramps off
Edgemoor Road near Oak Ridge. Most of the ducks had dispersed as the ice
and snow have melted. Did find 11 Canvasbacks but little else.

Returning home, I checked out the waters beside the old marina along Melton
Lake Drive (intersection with Emory Valley Road) where the Oak Ridge Rowing
Association is located. In the middle of the channel away from the coots
and Canada Geese, I found one Surf Scoter and one White-winged Scoter. The
sun was behind me and they cooperated with preening and much flapping. It
was exciting to see something of interest in this location as it is
normally has the same group of geese and coots.
