Friday evening, Feb. 21, NTOS had a very successful field trip to Shelby Bottoms in east Nashville to watch and listen for the displaying American Woodcocks. We walked to the platform behind the "shorebird pond" and very shortly had several calling from different directions. We had good looks at several doing their acrobatic displays, while many others were heard only. A Great-horned Owl was perched in the tree line as an added bonus. A delicious potluck dinner at the Shelby Community Center ended a fun evening.
