At my home in Bellevue on Sunday morning, the 
Harpeth River was still above flood stage, and I was 
treated to a pair of MALLARDs nearly on my doorstep.  
A HAIRY WOODPECKER announced it presence later in the 
day, but the best bird of the day was seen about 5 pm, 
when resting from yard work, I spied a hawk flying 
low over the nearby houses.  I had just enough time 
to run into the house for my binoculars, which produced 
my first "yard" BROAD-WINGED HAWK.
