I had a lone female rusty blackbird yesterday, feeding with some robins. In the course of verifying the ID in Sibley, I noticed a note I'd seen previously: "Occasional female Brewer's has pale eye." Well, my bird was pretty drab, so I refound it to confirm it had the facial markings of a rusty. The question is, how often does the pale-eyed female Brewer's occur? Comments invited.
