Bob Ford, president of the Tennessee Ornithological Society 1991-1995, was recently presented the "Special Awards for Long-term Contributions to Bird Conservation" at the Third International Partners In Flight Conference: A Workshop on Bird Conservation Implementation and Integration. The confference took place 20-24 March 2002, at the Asilomar State Park Conference Center near Monterey, California. In addition to Ford, Carol Beardmore, Naomi Edelson, Jane Fitzgerald, Chuck Hunter, David Pashley and Ken Rosenberg were also presented the award. The award consists of a gorgeous print of a pair of Scarlet Tanagers by artist Catherine McClung with an inscribed plaque. The awards were presented at a 23 March evening ceremony. Ford is with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in Northern Virginia. He was formerly with the Tennessee Conservation League, Lucius Burch Center for Conservation Planning in West Tennessee and also held the position of Migratory Birds and Biodiversity Project Leader with the Tennessee Conservation League in Nashville.
