Spring Migration has begun with neotropical migrants making their first
appearance.

An American Bittern was reported from the Brainerd Levee on March 29.

On my Migration Monitoring survey at the Craven's House (Hamilton co.)  on
April 8 I had:
2 White-eyed Vireos
2 Hooded Warblers
2 Black and White Warblers
and on April 9 a Blue-headed Vireo and Black-throated Green Warbler were
heard.

Two Northern Waterthrushes were seen at Reflection Riding on April 2 (Jonnie
Sue Lyons) and one was reported from Bradely County on April 6. (Marty

A singing Wood Thrush was reported from Signal Mountain (Sequatchie co.)
this week. (Clyde Blum)

Ovenbirds and 2 Scarlet Tanagers were reported from Walker co. GA on April
11. (David Aborn) 

At the Brainerd Levee on April 9 were:
4 Greater Yellowlegs
22 Lesser Yellowlegs
1 Pectoral Sandpiper
12 Least Sandpipers
10 Solitary Sandpipers
75 Common Snipe
12 American Pipits
1 Common Yellowthroat
1 Singing Prairie Warbler (migrant)
1 Calling Northern Bobwhite

The first report of Ruby-throated Hummingbird came from Signal Mounrtain on
April 7. (Jonnie Sue Lyons)

The first report of Yellow-breasted Chat came from Moccasin Bend on April 1
as well as 6 Yellow-throated Warblers in the Tennessee River gorge. (Bill
Haley)

From the Soddy Mountain hawkwatch on April 1 were: 3 Osprey, 1 imm. Bald
Eagle, 3 Northern Harriers, 3 Sharpies, 1 Red-shouldered, 1 Broad-winged
Hawk,  and 4 Red-tails. (Bill Haley).

Two Great Erets have been present in Amnicola Marsh all week.

The next general meeting of the Chattanooga TOS will be on May 9 at 7:00PM
at the Accension Luthern Church, 720 South Germantown Rd.

Be on the lookout for more neotropical migrants.
