At the conclusion of the Mossy Creek portion of the KTOS field trip to Jefferson County this morning, Harold Howell, Tony King and I went to the overlook at Cherokee Dam and found two rafts of ducks. The closer one consisted of about 25 Buffleheads; the second smaller raft was more distant and we could not determine the species. Harold then had to leave and Tony and I crossed the bridge into Grainger County and drove to the boat ramp off Rte. 375. We could see several hundred ducks on the water but Buffleheads and Scaup were the only species we managed to identify. Most of the ducks were quite distant. Carole Gobert, Knoxville, TN
