Spring is arriving at Cove Lake St Pk also. - Campbell County, N of Knoxville
The waterfowl are changing out quickly as well as the first GREEN HERONS have
arrived. (2)
Tree Swallows were abundant this morning.
Walked the short loop back trail listening for the elusive Swainson's Warbler
as well as checked beaver pond areas
for Prothonotary Warbler. Heard nothing yet but I suspect they will be in
around the 10th-12th.
A Hermit Thrush is still present. Heard a possible Wood Thrush that only sang
once so did not confirm on ebird reportat this time.
Coots still in good numbers but saw no Gadwall today despite the record
breaking numbers all Winter. There were some ducks on the far bank in the
rushes I could not see well enough without the scope
. 5 Comorants were in the Sycamore Tree across the lake where the Eagle
usually sits.
4 Pied Bill Grebe seemed to be paired up.
Still plenty of White Throated Sparrows/ Swamp/ Chipping and Pine Warblers
both singing.
Heard and saw first Spring House Wrens as well as a Winter Wren put in a
surprise song on the back loop trail.
First Spring White- Eye Vireo were on the back short loop trail also.
