McKenzie area Carroll Co. 10/23/03 I spent a couple of hours today around McKenzie, trying to locate good sparrow fields. Not much luck with this, but did have my 1st of the season Western-type Red-tailed Hawk, a high-flying dark-morph bird. This bird was in the company of a couple of Broad-winged Hawks. My local Rufous-morph bird hasn't made an appearance yet. Other nice birds seen today were an Orange-crowned Warbler, and a couple of Vesper Sparrows. Good birding!!
