Spent some time today birding in the Nashville area and had a few good sightings. An adult breeding plumage Laughing Gull was at Fate Sanders Marina, J Percy Priest Reservoir along with all 6 swallows. The water level at Gallatin Steam Plant is the lowest I hae ever seen, the marsh plants are mostly all dead and extensive shorebird areas are present, but there were only a few there today plus one Osprey. I found a Bewick's Wren singing on territory at the corner of Rock Springs Road and Alsup Mill Road in extreme north Rutherford County just off US 231. This site had a breeding pair for several years and then was abandoned 4-5 yrs ago. Glad they are back, this species is really in trouble around here. A bit farther south on RS Road are several pairs of Lark Sparrows in the short grass fields.
