I had the opportunity to bird in west TN yesterday and spent most of my time at the Pits. A few Dunlin and Short-billed Dowitchers around. Best bird was a Krider's Red-tailed Hawk, which is a cool looking bird. It was even more exciting before I figured out exactly what it was. Not too much happening on the Mississippi River while I was there. A distant raft of Coots. Looked through the doves on Presidents Is, but just the 2 expected species. There was a leucistic collared dove mixed in. On my way out of town I stopped by Hatchie NWR which was quiet except for all the detour traffic from the highway. Three Horned Grebes and a small convention of Pied-billed Grebes and a hand full of Am Wigeon. I am headed to Big Sandy. Sorry I missed Mike Todd and Terry Witt out there yesterday.
