2-4 April 2011 Hamilton County, TN I led a bird walk out at Greenway farms on Saturday (April 2). There is a low-lying area that has a lot of water in it from recent heavy rains, and when we checked it out there were 8 Blue-winged Teal. We also heard the first Black-throated-green Warblers of the season out there. On Sunday (April 3), I did a banding demonstration for the ornithology class from Southern Adventist University and we saw Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and a Barn Swallow, both FOS for out there. Several of the teal were still present. The big catch of the day (literally and figuratively) was a Red-shouldered Hawk, the second one I have caught out there and so far the only raptor of any kind I have caught at Greenway Farms. Today (April 4), I was doing my regular Greenway Farms banding and I heard my first White-eyed Vireo of the season. There were no teal.
