The John W. Sellars Chapter of TOS met up at Cedars of Lebanon State Park,
Wilson County for and early morning Bird walk before our monthly meeting
yesterday, Saturday 10/20/18. It was a cool, cloudy, wet, low light morning.
Rain had stopped about 7am. We walked out in the fields and woods where the new
birding trail and ADA trail will join up with the 2 mile loop cross country
running trail used by local high schools and running clubs in the area. Local
school kids arrived right after we did and started running around. We were able
to Bird without either group bothering the other.
Even though light conditions and birding conditions were not ideal, we still
managed to find almost 40 species before our 19 am meeting. We found both
kinglets, brown creeper, black-throated green, palm, orange-crowned,
yellow-rumped warblers, field, sing, chipping, and white-throated sparrow, and
other usual species, best Bird of the morning were 2 red-breasted nuthatches.
Good birding
