On Thursday 14 June 2012 Harold Howell will lead a field trip to a private wildlife refuge in Jefferson County near Mossy Creek Wildlife Viewing Area. Trip details as follows: Thursday, June 14, 2012, meet at 9:00 AM in the parking area for Mossy Creek Wildlife Viewing Area, Jefferson City, TN Leader: Harold Howell (865-828-6302) We will carpool from Mossy Creek to a nearby private 110 acre estate. This estate has been developed and landscaped for attracting birds. Numerous bird houses have been installed, and are occupied. The entire estate is beautifully landscaped with large numbers of flowers and flowering trees. The owner has invited KTOS to help him identify the many bird species nesting on the property. Moderate walking will be required. We should be finished by noon. Please call Harold Howell at 865-828-6302 if you have questions. Directions to Mossy Creek: Take Highway 11E to Jefferson City, turn left on State Route 92 (directly across from the new Jefferson County Hospital). Travel a bit over a mile and watch carefully for a 90 degree left turn, poorly marked. After the left turn you will cross a bridge over railroad tracks, then take the next street to the right. This street will tee into another street, where you will turn right. Go about three city blocks and turn left at the next street (there is an older white farmhouse on the corner). This street tees into another street in about two city blocks, and you will be looking at Mossy Creek. Turn left and go a short distance to the parking lot on the right.
