Hi all,

The female LONG-TAILED DUCK was still present at Shutes Branch on Old
Hickory Lake when I stopped there around 10:30 AM this morning (Friday,
March 13). I found her exactly as described on the northwest side of the
point, very close to shore and diving frequently. Very beautiful and
cooperative bird! Thanks to those who reported her on the list.

There was also a lot of activity in the GREAT BLUE HERON rookery across the
channel which made for entertaining watching. I counted 19 herons (!), but
they were moving around a lot and I suspect there were more.

Later I stopped very briefly at Snow Bunting Peninsula and had a handsome
male BLUE-WINGED TEAL swimming with some NORTHERN SHOVELERS.
