I just got off the phone with a friend who informed me that the birds were flushed from the peninsula by a fisherman. Upon their return, the American Avocet was not present, but was replaced by a MARBLED GODWIT (~ 3:48PM). I've never seen one in the state, so I'm about to head that way... There are now 5 WILLETS in the flock as well.
