TN NWR Duck RIver Unit Humphreys County 04/26/11 Clayton Ferrell 18 Willets. Sorry but I didn't have a good bird book with me to seperate into western/eastern, as I was not in my own vehicle. A brief look at a female Wilson's Phalarope in breeding plumage. The first I have ever seen in breeding plumage! Beautiful bird! Shorebirds were in scattered groups and mostly skittish and composed of mostly yellowlegs, pectorals, and least. Also had one Caspian amongst them but had seen 11 late last week. The willets must have just come in from a long flight as they were napping or preening and didn't pay us any attention yet we were only 50 yards away. Unfortunately it appears the bottoms will be going under this weekend as epic flooding on the Ohio and Miss. Rivers will contribute to KY and Barkley Lakes backing up due to reduced releases. Much of Cross Creeks and TN NWR will probably close down in the next few days. Check Refuge web sites for road closures. =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
