[TN-Bird] Martins on radar

I think we had a discussion on TN-Birds last year on using radar to see purple
martins come off roost. Anyway, I've included a couple links of interest and
notes.

The Nashville martin roost can be seen fairly clearly as a donut expanding out
from eastern Davidson Co. The radar station that shows it best is from
Huntsville, AL (the Nashville one is too close to the roost to show it
effectively). The radar track only shows base reflectivity for the last hour
or so, meaning the birds are only visible on the radar first thing in the
morning with the current radar.

This link is from Birmingham, AL. There is evidence of the Huntsville area
(Wheeler NWR?) martin roost and a LARGE roost southeast of Demopolis, AL (due
south of Tuscaloosa). This was a large, very well defined expanding donut
shape this morning.

You can change around to different radars using the arrow/toggle buttons near
the top left of the page. Enjoy!

Cheers,
