The "Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Tennessee" contains a listing of the breeding chronology of Tennessee birds consisting of early and late dates of observations of nests with eggs, nests with young, and fledglings. The records in the Atlas were through the early 1990s; both the list of species nesting in the state and data on nesting of many species have increased since then. I regularly receive questions through the TOS website about the breeding chronology of Tennessee birds, and several people come to the TOS website in recent weeks through an internet search on terms such as "nesting season of Tennessee birds." In order to make this breeding chronology information more readily available, I have updated the listing and posted it on the TOS website at http://www.tnbirds.org/breeding_dates.html. I hope you find this interesting and useful. The updates are from my field notes, records in the "Migrant" and other published sources, TN-Bird messages, and personal communications. I have undoubtedly missed some new early and late date records. Daniel Moss is going through the many nest records for grassland birds at Ft. Campbell to update these species. If you are aware of other new early and late dates, please send them to me. And please continue to report your nesting observations on TN-birds and send them to the regional Season editors of the "Migrant."
