Feb. 23, 2003 Pickwick Dam I like to take photos of odd pairings of birds for comparison. Like an Ivory Gull with a Coot, Sharpie and Coopers on the same limb, Pacific and Common Loons, Long-billed and Short-billed Dowitchers, Olive-sided and Pewee together, etc. They don't happen often but when they do I take advantage of the situation. Yesterday, I took a photo of three odd partners swimming in the same frame. It's not even a good photo because of the distance but when you see a Red-throated and Common Loon, swimming with a Deer out in the middle of a lake, it is a pretty surprising sight. PS. Swallows were reported at Reelfoot last weekend, most likely Trees. Yesterday they were seen feeding over Pickwick Lake. The first returning Pectoral Sandpipers were found in north Mississippi over the weekend, so watch your wet spots, of which there should be plenty. Good Birding!!! Jeff R.
