Saturday - February 22, 2003 (10:00 - 10:30 a.m)The rain held off long enough to allow a short trip to the Environmental Study Area in Hendersonville. While just a few species of waterfowl seen, the highlight was definitely a flyover of 8 Sandhill Cranes. The birds were heading northwest when they banked to the right and flew out of sight to the east. The rain caught us at approx. 10:30, and we called it a day. Other birds seen were: 4 Common Loons 6 Bufflehead ~25 Ruddy Duck 8 Horned Grebes plus the usual Mallards, Pied-billed Grebes, and Great Blue Herons. A farm pond near my house had a mixed flock of 10 Redhead, 8 Lesser Scaup and a single Hooded Merganser. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to sign your messages with first and last name, city (town) and state abbreviation. ----------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, simply send email to: tn-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send email to: tn-bird-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject field. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Topographical Maps located at http://topozone.com/find.asp * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Tennessee Ornithological Society web site at http://www.tnbirds.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * TN-Bird Net Owner: Wallace Coffey, Bristol, TN jwcoffey@xxxxxxxxxx (423) 764-3958 =========================================================
