I've seen them at the same place for about a month now, and I saw one again this morning. Normally I see a single bird, but a couple of times I've seen two, and they're always near a large cedar tree which makes me suspect they're nesting. More than once I've watched one fly in and out of the tree, but I can't see a nest because the branches and foliage are too thick. +++++++++++++ Several years ago, when a friend used to live near Adairsville, KY, I used to drive to Springfield in Robertson County then up to Adairsville to visit. Almost every time, I would see one or two shrikes near the last crossroad just south of where the highway enters Kentucky, crosses the Red River and into "town." I was always thrilled with that. I like shrikes and very seldom see them any more. Once in a great while, I saw them in Bell's Bend across the Cumberland River from my house in Nashville's Charlotte Park. Haven't been over there much since I became disabled and they took my beloved Cleece's Ferry out of service quite a few years ago! Birding grounds in Bell's Bend which WERE a mile or so from home are now 12-18 miles by car. Of course, the developers, et al, want an ecologically impractical BRIDGE across there to Bell's Bend. They are bursting to make Bell's Bend into another Cool Springs Shopping Complex and collect lots more taxes on it. No, no, no!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's a wildlife paradise, so I'd love to see it become another national park or wildlife sanctuary!!!!! The people who already live there could be "grandfathered in" and keep their farms while being protected from any more development. Dee Thompson Nashville, TN Davidson County Nashville, TN
