[TN-Bird] Question about a Summer Tanager

This weekend my husband and I had the chance to watch a Summer Tanager. We
are both new "birders", and were very excited to have seen him. He was
beautiful and starving. Over the period of two days, we watched him eat
from our Suet Feeder and our peanut butter feeder. He would stand on top of
other feeders(not feeding) and blow up to make him look big.

About Summer Tanagers....is it common for them not to migrate? What would
cause them not to migrate, etc.? Or do you think he's just passing
through--late migrating? Will they survive through one of our winters?

Thanks for your help!!
