Yesterday afternoon my mom and I were out birding in our back woods when we spotted a large nest about 65 feet up in a pine tree. We thought it was a hawk's nest but couldn't confirm it. This evening we were out again and after 20 minutes of looking, we finally saw a chick stand up and stretch it's wings. A few minutes later we could see another chick as well. From another angle we could barely make out the head of an adult hawk. Finally, another adult flew close and called. Definately a Red-tailed!!!!!!!! The chicks are fluffy white and very cute. We'll keep checking, maybe there are more than two chicks.
