I was asked to forward this to the TN bird list from Brainard Palmer-Ball in Kentucky. Thank you for your time on this issue. Hap Chambers Murray, KY Please take time to read thru the following appeal for support for the most significant funding that the state of Kentucky receives for NONGAME wildlife from the federal government. It is called the State & Tribal Wildlife Grant (STWG). Kentucky has been receiving somewhere around $800,000 a year since its inception, and that $800K is matched 50:50 to provide $160K of funding for nongame wildlife in our state each year. The recently proposed FY 2011 budget has called for a COMPLETE zeroing out of the funding for this program across the entire country. So if you are resident of a state outside of Kentucky, YOUR state's STWG budget will also be zeroed out, so please make an appeal to your Congressmen as well. NOTE that the timing is quite critical and that calls need to be made IMMEDIATELY. All of the recent work you may have read or heard about in the state of Kentucky dealing with Peregrine Falcons, Barn Owls, and songbirds (as well as many other species of birds, amphibians, reptiles, and mammals) has been at least partially funded by STWG. WE NEED THIS FUNDING SOURCE!!!! bpb, Louisville =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation.
