Sun 3 Apr 2011....330-500pm

I returned to JB wildlife refuge and also observed the Rough-legged Hawk just
after it took off....as it circled over the barn I watched it get higher and
higher and head toward the North East.....this may be its departure day.

Other notables were a covey of 6 bobwhites along the road to the barn. Which
contained a Barn Owl....sitting in the rafters. I also saw 4 lesser-
yellowlegs flying by ( and calling). I observed White-crowned sparrows and 2
Savannah sparrows below the barn.

Earlier along Glades road, I jumped 2 vesper sparrows ( one returned to the
ground and peeked at me for a while). Murray-Bridge road bridge over Lick
Creek had a Rusty Blackbird in with 5 redwings....and 2 purple finch dining on
buds.

The Pond near Lick creek, Smelcer Rd. and Toby rd. contained Blue-wing teal, a
lone Ringed-neck Drake and a coot.

A nice afternoon of "brdn".
