I visited Eagleville and Veterans Parkway wet areas to look for shorebirds
this morning.
Eagleville sod fields: +60 least sandpipers & semipalmated plovers. They
were removing sod this morning, and perhaps this disturbed some of the
birds.
Veterans Parkway/Kimbro Road flooded fields (Murfreesboro): continuing
stilt sandpiper and long-billed dowitchers. I spoke to the landowner last
evening and he told me that it was private property and it was posted by
signage at the parking area. He has since propped up the signage. I
explained to him what I was doing, and he had no problems with it but in
the past he had duck hunters stopping. This morning, I did not pull in too
far into the parking space and stayed on the sidewalk. It might be best
for folks to stay on the sidewalk instead of wondering down closer to the
wet area. Everything can be easily seen from the sidewalk.
