I was outdoors much of the day today working in the Garden and yard and
birding as the need arose. The sandhills started flying over early today and
were still passing overhead after sundown. There was wave after wave with
the highest frequency between 3 and 6. I lost track of how many
individual groups there were. At one point there were so many I couldn't
count all
of the cranes in each group. My counted total was 2680 but I would say the
actual number of cranes easily exceeded 3000 today.
