Roly Lloyd is back in the US again from Australia and we did a prime time
runabout to fill a couple of spots on his most wanted list. He said he would be
happy with two additions and ended up with five.

Looking mostly for waders today, we ended up with 91 species including some
super fine birds. We had 8 species of herons and egrets, 40+ adult and immature
White Ibis, 11 Roseate Spoonbills, 7 species of ducks, and 5 species of
raptors.

The grand total for shorebirds ended at 22 with 16 gleaned from a couple of
hours at the Ensley pits this morning that produced the Golden-Plover that has
hung around for a week, 3 Buff-breasted Sandpipers and a Wilson's Phalarope.
Another Golden-Plover and 2 Black-bellied Plovers were added in Ark plus 8
Avocet, 1 Upland Sandpiper, 1 Marbled Godwit, 3 Sanderling, another 6
Buff-breasted at 2 locations, 3 more Wilson's Phalarope and THREE Piping
Plovers found by
Kenny and LaDonna Nichols as a late afternoon bonus.

A real odd shorebird that none of the five of us could put an ID to was the
best bird of the day from an interest point of view. It was a most strange
individual that looked nothing like anything Roly had seen in Australia and
nothing I have seen on 4 continents. It most likely was is VERY aberrant white
faced
and white chested Pectoral but the bill, back feathers nor general build seem
to support that ID.

A very nice Common Tern sat for a photo and we had Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
congregations every time we turned around.

Well, it's midnight and we start out again at 5 AM to try to fill in a few
more holes and retry for Wood Storks which we knew where they were but could
not
get to because of rain drenched roads...........

Good Birding!!!
