Feb. 10, 2010 Shelby Farms Memphis, TN I had a couple of hours to kill yesterday and did a quick tour around the snow lined fields. At the lakes were; Ring-billed Gulls, lots of Canada Geese and 22 Cackling plus 9 species of ducks. In the edge of the woods, I found a mixed flock of over 60 Juncos and Chipping Sparrows. The dark morph Harlan's still hides in the tree line around the garden plots and Kestrels and two Shrikes were found sitting on their favorite hunting perches. I found a large mixed flock of Laplands, Pipits and Eastern Meadowlarks in one field that I settle in with to scan for something unusual. A Cooper's Hawk had other plans. A couple of photos of the Cooper's hunt including one of it crashing the party start at: _http://www.pbase.com/ol_coot/image/121870038_ (http://www.pbase.com/ol_coot/image/121870038) Good Birding !!!
